- What happens after the notice is published?
I have prepared this guide to answer these questions in one place.
At OMM Advertising, I help customers with the newspaper advertising and publication side of court notices, public notices, legal notices, property notices, lost-document notices, tender notices and other formal newspaper advertisements.
My aim is simple: when a customer finishes reading this guide, they should understand the complete publication process before booking a Court Notice Advertisement in Kolkata.
Important legal note: A newspaper publication is sometimes ordered or permitted by a court as a method of service or public communication. It is not automatically required for every court case. The court order, applicable procedural rules and instructions from the advocate or court should always be treated as the controlling requirement. The advertising agency can arrange publication, but it should not replace legal advice.
What Is a Court Notice Advertisement?
A Court Notice Advertisement is a notice published in a newspaper in connection with a court proceeding or court-directed requirement.
The court may require newspaper publication in a particular situation. For example, under Order V Rule 20 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, when the court orders substituted service by newspaper advertisement, the newspaper is to be a daily newspaper circulating in the locality where the defendant was last known to reside, carry on business or personally work for gain.
This is important because a customer should not simply select a newspaper based on price.
The correct newspaper can depend on the court order, locality, language, circulation requirement and nature of the case.
A court notice advertisement can therefore be part of a formal legal process rather than an ordinary classified advertisement.
Why Does a Court Require Newspaper Publication?
A court may direct publication when ordinary service or communication is not sufficient in the circumstances of the case.
For example, there may be difficulty in:
- locating a party
- serving a party personally
- reaching a person at the last known address
- communicating with a wider group of interested persons
- complying with a specific court direction
The exact reason depends on the case.
Under the CPC, substituted service can include newspaper advertisement when the court orders it. The rule also specifies the type of newspaper to be used in that situation.
A recent 2026 Calcutta High Court matter also illustrates why customers should follow the court’s exact publication direction: the Court directed public advertisement in a daily Bengali newspaper with wide circulation in West Bengal and required the draft publication to receive approval before publication; the published newspaper was then to be filed before the Court.
So my first advice is:
Always read the court order before booking the newspaper.
Court Notice Advertisement vs Legal Notice vs Public Notice
These terms are often used interchangeably by customers, but they can describe different things.
Court Notice Advertisement
This normally refers to a newspaper publication connected with a court proceeding or a direction from a court.
The court order may specify the newspaper, language, edition, publication frequency or other conditions.
Legal Notice Advertisement
This is a broader term for a newspaper publication connected with a legal matter.
It can include property, lost document, public caution or other legal communications.
Public Notice Advertisement
A public notice communicates information to the public and may invite claims, objections or responses.
A property purchaser, for example, may publish a public notice inviting anyone with a claim or objection to come forward.
Why does this difference matter?
Because the publication requirement may be different.
A court-directed advertisement should follow the court order.
A property public notice may instead follow the instructions of the advocate handling the transaction.
I therefore recommend identifying the legal requirement first rather than choosing a newspaper advertisement category simply because it sounds similar.
Types of Court Notice Advertisements
Court-related newspaper publications can arise in different situations.
There is no single universal format for every case.
Below are the major situations customers should understand.
1. Summons or Notice Through Newspaper
One common situation involves service of a summons or notice through newspaper publication when the court has ordered substituted service.
Why is this required?
If the court is satisfied that ordinary service cannot be completed in the circumstances covered by the applicable procedural rule, it may direct another method of service.
Under Order V Rule 20 CPC, this can include advertisement in a newspaper.
What should the advertisement contain?
The approved matter may include:
- name of the court
- case number
- names of parties
- name of the person being served
- address or last known address
- nature of the proceeding
- date of appearance
- relevant direction
- advocate or court contact details
- other information prescribed by the court
Who prepares the wording?
I recommend that the wording come from the advocate or court-approved draft.
The advertising agency should not rewrite the legal substance.
2. Notice to a Missing or Untraceable Defendant
Sometimes a party cannot be located or ordinary service has not been successful.
In such circumstances, the court may order substituted service according to the applicable procedure.
What information is important?
The notice may identify:
- defendant’s name
- last known address
- case number
- court
- plaintiff/petitioner
- date of appearance
- relevant court direction
Why is the address important?
The address can help establish the locality relevant to the newspaper requirement.
For substituted service under Order V Rule 20 CPC, the rule specifically connects the newspaper with the locality where the defendant was last known to reside, carry on business or personally work for gain.
3. Court-Directed Public Advertisement
A court may sometimes specifically direct a party to publish a public advertisement.
This can happen in matters where broader public communication is considered appropriate.
What should I check?
Before booking, I recommend checking the order for:
- newspaper language
- circulation requirement
- geographical coverage
- number of insertions
- publication deadline
- exact wording
- draft approval requirement
- proof submission requirement
A 2026 Calcutta High Court order is a useful example: it required publication in a daily Bengali newspaper with wide circulation in West Bengal, approval of the draft and later filing of the newspaper showing publication.
4. Property-Related Court Notice
Property disputes can also lead to court-directed newspaper publications.
These may relate to:
- property disputes
- title matters
- ownership
- possession
- partition
- sale
- mortgage
- claims over property
- parties who cannot be served
- other court proceedings
Property details
Depending on the court-approved matter, the notice may identify:
- premises number
- property address
- plot number
- flat number
- dag number
- khatian number
- registration details
- deed information
Not every notice needs every property detail.
The final matter should follow the court order and advocate’s instructions.
5. Probate, Succession or Estate-Related Notice
Some proceedings relating to estates, succession or probate may involve public communication or newspaper publication depending on the applicable procedure or court direction.
Possible information
The approved notice may mention:
- name of deceased
- date of death
- petitioner/applicant
- case number
- court
- nature of proceeding
- claims or objections
- deadline
- contact information
Important point
Do not use a generic “probate notice format” found online.
The wording should come from the advocate handling the case.
6. Company or Commercial Court Notice
Commercial disputes can also involve court-directed publication.
The notice may concern:
- company disputes
- commercial claims
- creditor-related matters
- corporate proceedings
- contractual disputes
- other commercial litigation
Information may include:
- court name
- case number
- company name
- parties
- relevant date
- nature of proceedings
- appearance requirement
- advocate’s details
The exact format depends on the order.
7. Notice Inviting Claims or Objections
Some court-related matters may require a public notice inviting interested persons to submit claims or objections.
What does this mean?
The public is informed that a particular legal matter is pending or that a particular action is proposed, and anyone with a legally relevant claim may be asked to respond.
What should the notice explain?
It may contain:
- subject of the matter
- relevant person/property
- case details
- nature of claim
- objection period
- method of submitting objection
- contact details
Who decides the objection period?
The advocate or court.
I do not recommend creating the deadline yourself.
8. Execution or Recovery-Related Notice
Certain execution or recovery proceedings may involve notices or public announcements, depending on the order and applicable procedure.
These may involve:
- property
- judgment debtor
- auction
- recovery
- claim
- objection
- execution proceeding
Why is the exact order important?
Because the advertisement may need to reproduce specific details from the court document.
For example, an auction-related publication may require information about:
- property
- reserve price
- auction date
- terms
- deposit
- authority
- contact details
The final wording must come from the authorised source.
9. Auction or Sale Notice Ordered by Court
Court-related auction or sale notices require special attention because dates and financial information can be critical.
Property description
The notice should identify the asset correctly.
Auction date
The date and time must match the official notice.
Location or online platform
If an auction is conducted through a particular platform or at a particular location, the approved matter may mention it.
Reserve price
Where applicable, the reserve price should be copied exactly.
Earnest Money Deposit
If an EMD is required, the amount and payment instructions should be correct.
Terms and conditions
The notice may refer readers to the official auction terms.
Contact details
The authorised contact person or office should be provided.
10. Court Notice for a Specific Individual
Sometimes a court-directed advertisement is intended to reach a particular person.
The notice may contain:
- person’s full name
- last known address
- case number
- court name
- nature of proceeding
- date of appearance
- court direction
The spelling of the person’s name should be checked carefully.
What Information Should a Court Notice Advertisement Contain?
There is no single format that applies to every court notice.
However, I normally check the following information.
Court Name
The exact name of the court should be used.
For example, the wording should not casually shorten or alter the official court name.
This helps the reader identify the proceeding.
Case Number
The case number is one of the most important identifiers.
It connects the newspaper notice with the particular proceeding.
Check:
- case type
- case number
- year
- other relevant reference
A small typing error can cause confusion.
Names of Parties
The approved notice may identify:
- plaintiff
- defendant
- petitioner
- respondent
- applicant
- opposite party
Names should be copied from the court-approved matter.
Name of the Person Being Notified
If the purpose is to notify a particular individual, that person’s name should be clearly stated.
If the notice is intended for a wider group, the wording may be different.
Address
The notice may contain the last known address or another relevant address.
This can be particularly important where substituted service is involved.
Nature of the Case
The reader should understand the basic purpose of the notice.
It may relate to:
- civil proceeding
- property dispute
- commercial matter
- succession
- recovery
- execution
- auction
- another proceeding
The description should remain faithful to the approved legal matter.
Date of Appearance
If the court requires the person to appear on a particular date, that information should be stated exactly.
A wrong date can be serious.
Court Direction
Where the notice is based on a specific order, the relevant direction should be reflected accurately.
Advocate’s Details
The approved notice may provide:
- advocate name
- office address
- telephone
These details should be checked before publication.
What Documents Are Required for a Court Notice Advertisement?
This is one of the most important parts of the booking process.
I recommend keeping the following ready.
1. Court Order
If publication has been directed by the court, the court order is usually the most important reference document.
It tells you what the court actually requires.
Current newspaper booking information also identifies a court order as a supporting document for public/court notices.
2. Advocate-Approved Notice Matter
Send the final wording.
If the advocate has prepared a specific newspaper draft, use that version.
3. Case Details
Keep the relevant case reference available.
4. Party Details
Make sure names and addresses match the official records.
5. Publication Instructions
If the court order specifies:
- newspaper
- language
- edition
- circulation
- number of insertions
- publication date
send those instructions to the advertising agency.
6. Other Supporting Documents
Depending on the case, the newspaper or booking agency may ask for additional documentation.
The requirement is not identical for every notice.
Step-by-Step Process to Publish a Court Notice Advertisement in Kolkata
I recommend following this process.
Step 1: Read the Court Order
Do not begin by asking, “Which newspaper is cheapest?”
First ask:
What exactly has the court ordered?
Check the order carefully.
Step 2: Identify the Publication Requirement
Look for:
- newspaper
- language
- edition
- circulation
- number of publications
- deadline
- wording
- draft approval
- proof requirement
Step 3: Get the Final Notice Matter
Ask the advocate for the final approved wording.
Do not use an internet template as your final legal matter.
Step 4: Prepare Supporting Documents
Keep the court order and relevant documents ready.
This can make booking faster.
Step 5: Contact OMM Advertising
Send:
- court order
- final matter
- newspaper instruction
- edition
- preferred publication date
- deadline
- contact details
I can then help with the newspaper publication side.
Step 6: Check the Newspaper
Before payment, verify:
Newspaper → Edition → Language → Date → Category → Format → Cost
Step 7: Check the Final Advertisement
Before publication, carefully check:
- court name
- case number
- names
- addresses
- dates
- contact details
- wording
- newspaper
- edition
Step 8: Approve the Advertisement
Only after everything is correct should the advertisement be approved.
Step 9: Publication
The newspaper publishes the notice on the booked date, subject to its applicable cut-off and production schedule.
Step 10: Collect Publication Proof
After publication, keep:
- newspaper copy
- e-paper page
- tear-sheet
- invoice
- receipt
- booking confirmation
Step 11: Submit Proof to the Advocate/Court if Required
This is important.
Some court matters require the published newspaper to be filed as proof of publication.
The 2026 Calcutta High Court example mentioned above specifically required the newspaper showing publication to be filed before the Court.
So do not throw away the newspaper after publication.
How Much Does a Court Notice Advertisement Cost in Kolkata?
There is no single fixed Kolkata court notice advertisement rate.
The final cost depends on:
- newspaper
- edition
- notice category
- number of lines
- size
- classified/display format
- publication date
- number of insertions
- colour
- special placement
- applicable taxes
Current published Kolkata rate information shows a large difference between newspapers.
For example, the current Times of India Kolkata booking page lists Court or Marriage Notice at ₹5,775 as a starting amount and separately lists ₹250 + GST per sq. cm for the applicable display rate shown on that page.
Dainik Statesman currently lists Court or Marriage Notice at ₹400 for its displayed five-line classified starting package and ₹120 + GST per sq. cm for the corresponding display rate.
Dainik Vishwamitra currently lists Court or Marriage Notice at ₹375 for its displayed five-line classified package and ₹90 + GST per sq. cm for the displayed rate.
Daily Kalom currently lists Court or Marriage Notice at ₹300 for its displayed five-line classified package and ₹100 + GST per sq. cm for the displayed display rate.
These figures are indicative current published rates, not a universal Kolkata rate. The final price must be checked against the exact newspaper, matter, edition and publication date.
Why Are Court Notice Rates Different Between Newspapers?
Customers often ask me:
“Why is one newspaper charging ₹300 while another is charging several thousand?”
The answer is that newspapers use different rate structures.
A higher-circulation newspaper may have a substantially higher legal/public-notice rate.
For example, current listing data identifies Kolkata circulation figures of approximately 2.9 lakh/day for Times of India, 1.9 lakh/day for Aajkaal, 1.1 lakh/day for Dainik Vishwamitra, 88,001/day for Dainik Jugasankha, and 15,500/day for Dainik Statesman on their respective current booking pages. These figures are publisher/booking-platform listings and should be treated as indicative rather than independently audited circulation data.
Therefore, I would never recommend choosing a newspaper purely because its rate is low.
What Factors Increase the Court Notice Advertisement Cost?
Longer Matter
A longer notice can increase the number of lines or the required display area.
Larger Size
Display advertisements are generally priced according to area.
Premium Newspaper
A high-circulation newspaper may cost more.
Multiple Publications
If the court requires publication more than once, the total cost increases.
Multiple Newspapers
If publication is required in two newspapers, you need to pay for both.
Colour
If a display format requires colour, the cost can be higher.
Urgent Publication
A tight deadline may restrict your newspaper choices.
Classified Text or Display: Which Should I Choose?
Classified Text
This is usually the simpler and more economical format.
It is appropriate when the court order allows a normal text-based notice.
Advantages
- lower cost in many newspapers
- simple format
- suitable for longer legal text
- easy to prepare
But the final choice depends on the court requirement.
Classified Display
This gives the notice more visual prominence.
It can include design treatment depending on the publication.
It may cost more.
Display Advertisement
This is a larger format.
It may be appropriate where:
- the court requires a particular size
- prominence is specified
- the publication requirement demands display
- the advertiser wants greater visibility
Never upgrade or downgrade the format without checking the publication requirement.
Which Newspaper Should I Choose for a Court Notice in Kolkata?
This is one of the most important decisions.
I recommend this order:
First: Follow the Court Order
If the court specifies the newspaper, use that newspaper.
Second: Check Language
If the order requires Bengali, use a suitable Bengali newspaper.
If it requires English, use an appropriate English newspaper.
Third: Check Circulation
If the order says “widely circulated” or gives a geographical requirement, check that requirement carefully.
Fourth: Check Edition
Make sure the newspaper edition covers the relevant locality.
Fifth: Check Deadline
A newspaper that cannot publish by the required date may not be suitable.
Bengali or English Newspaper: Which Is Required?
There is no universal answer.
It depends on the court’s direction and the circumstances.
A recent Calcutta High Court order provides a clear example where publication was directed in a daily Bengali newspaper having wide circulation in West Bengal.
That does not mean every court notice in Kolkata must be published in Bengali.
Always follow the actual order.
Do I Need One Newspaper or Two?
Again, there is no universal rule.
You may need:
- one newspaper
- two newspapers
- one Bengali + one English
- two specific newspapers
- multiple publications on different dates
The requirement should come from the court or advocate.
If the order says:
Publish in one Bengali and one English newspaper.
then you should arrange both.
If it says:
Publish once in a daily newspaper circulating in the locality.
then the requirement is different.
How Quickly Can a Court Notice Be Published?
The publication time depends on:
- newspaper
- booking cut-off
- notice category
- document verification
- available publication slots
- publication date
- weekend/holiday schedule
- urgency
Current booking pages show that some newspapers accept court/public notices for next-day publication when booked before their applicable cut-off. For example, the current Times of India public-notice page states next-day publication in Kolkata when booked by its stated cut-off.
Other newspapers have different cut-offs.
For example, current booking pages show:
- Aajkaal: booking by 2 PM for next-day publication as stated on its page.
- Ei Samay: booking by 5 PM for next-day publication, as stated on its page.
- Dainik Vishwamitra: its current page states a 4 PM booking cut-off for the displayed edition.
Never assume the cut-off is the same for every newspaper.
What Is a Publication Proof?
Publication proof is evidence that the notice appeared in the newspaper.
It can include:
Physical Newspaper
Keep the actual newspaper.
E-Paper Page
Save the relevant digital page.
Tear-Sheet
A tear-sheet is a page or publication proof showing the advertisement.
Current newspaper booking services specifically advertise tear-sheet/publication proof for public and court-related notices.
Booking Receipt
Keep your booking/payment record.
Publication Date
Record the exact date.
Edition
Keep the edition information.
Why Is Publication Proof So Important?
Suppose your advocate tells you:
“We need to show the court that the notice was published.”
The advertisement alone is not enough if you cannot demonstrate where and when it appeared.
That is why I recommend keeping a complete file:
Court Order + Final Matter + Booking Receipt + Newspaper Copy + E-Paper/Tear-Sheet
This creates a much cleaner record.
What Should I Check Before Publishing?
I recommend using this checklist.
Court Information
- Court name
- Case type
- Case number
- Case year
Party Information
- Plaintiff/petitioner name
- Defendant/respondent name
- Person being notified
Address
- Last known address
- Relevant property address
- Other approved address
Dates
- Publication date
- Appearance date
- Objection deadline
- Auction date, if applicable
Advertisement
- Exact approved matter
- Newspaper
- Language
- Edition
- Number of publications
- Format
Documents
- Court order
- Advocate-approved matter
- Other required documents
Common Mistakes in Court Notice Advertisements
Mistake 1: Booking Before Reading the Court Order
This is the biggest mistake.
Read the order first.
Mistake 2: Choosing the Cheapest Newspaper
A low price is irrelevant if the newspaper does not satisfy the court’s requirement.
Mistake 3: Using a Generic Internet Format
Every case is different.
Use the advocate-approved matter.
Mistake 4: Typing the Case Number Incorrectly
Check the case number character by character.
Mistake 5: Incorrect Party Name
Do not rely on memory.
Copy the name from the official document.
Mistake 6: Wrong Publication Date
A court deadline may make the publication date important.
Confirm it before payment.
Mistake 7: Wrong Edition
“Kolkata newspaper” does not always mean that every edition is equivalent.
Check the required edition.
Mistake 8: Forgetting the Language Requirement
If the court asks for Bengali publication, an English newspaper may not satisfy the direction.
Mistake 9: Not Keeping Proof
Always keep the published newspaper and supporting evidence.
Mistake 10: Assuming the Advertising Agency Gives Legal Advice
An advertising agency can help with publication.
It should not decide what legal remedy or court procedure applies to your case.
Can OMM Advertising Draft a Court Notice?
This needs to be explained clearly.
OMM Advertising can help with newspaper advertisement publication.
However, the legal substance of a court notice should come from the:
- advocate
- court
- authorised legal professional
- relevant authority
I do not recommend asking an advertising agency to invent legal facts, court directions or procedural wording.
Our role is to make the publication process easier and more organised.
Can I Book a Court Notice Online?
Yes, the newspaper advertising process can often be handled online.
The basic process is:
Send Court Order → Send Approved Matter → Choose Newspaper → Check Rate → Confirm Date → Pay → Advertisement Published → Receive Proof
This saves time because you do not necessarily need to visit the newspaper office personally.
How OMM Advertising Helps With Court Notice Publication
When a customer contacts me, I first try to understand the publication requirement.
I check:
- type of notice
- court requirement
- newspaper
- language
- edition
- format
- matter length
- publication date
- deadline
- supporting documents
- proof requirement
Then I help coordinate the newspaper publication.
This is particularly useful when a customer is unsure about:
“Which newspaper should I use?”
“What documents should I send?”
“How much will it cost?”
“Can it be published tomorrow?”
“How do I get publication proof?”
My role is to simplify these practical advertising questions.
For legal interpretation, I recommend consulting the advocate handling the case.
Expert Review: Who Should Check the Legal Content?
For a court notice, the advocate or legal professional handling the case is the right person to review the legal content.
The advertising agency has expertise in:
- newspaper selection
- advertising categories
- rate structures
- editions
- publication scheduling
- booking
- publication coordination
- proof collection
The advocate has expertise in:
- case law
- procedural requirements
- legal drafting
- court orders
- service requirements
- deadlines
- legal consequences
This division of responsibility is important.
A good publication process requires both sides to do their part correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions About Court Notice Advertisement in Kolkata
What is a Court Notice Advertisement?
It is a newspaper notice connected with a court proceeding or court-directed publication requirement.
Is newspaper publication required for every court case?
No. Newspaper publication is not automatically required in every case. It depends on the court’s order and applicable procedure.
Why does a court order newspaper publication?
One reason can be substituted service where ordinary service is not possible or appropriate under the applicable procedure. Order V Rule 20 CPC provides for newspaper advertisement when the court orders substituted service in the circumstances covered by that rule.
Which newspaper should I choose for a court notice?
Follow the court order first. Check the required language, circulation, locality and edition before considering price.
Can I publish a court notice in a Bengali newspaper?
Yes, if the court order permits or requires it. Some Calcutta High Court orders specifically direct publication in a daily Bengali newspaper with wide circulation in West Bengal.
Can I publish a court notice in an English newspaper?
Yes, where the applicable court direction permits or requires an English newspaper.
Do I need two newspapers?
Not necessarily. The requirement depends on the court order.
What documents are required?
The court order and advocate-approved matter are commonly important. Additional documents can depend on the notice and newspaper.
Do I need the court order?
If publication has been directed by the court, I strongly recommend keeping the court order ready. Current newspaper booking information specifically identifies court orders among supporting documents for public/court notices.
How much does a court notice advertisement cost in Kolkata?
There is no single rate. Current published rates vary substantially by newspaper. For example, current Kolkata listings show ₹5,775 for a starting Times of India court/marriage notice package, while Dainik Statesman and Dainik Vishwamitra list substantially lower starting classified packages.
Why is Times of India more expensive than some other newspapers?
Newspapers have different rate structures, circulation levels, editions and commercial positioning. The correct choice should be based on the court requirement, not only the price.
Can I get a cheap court notice advertisement?
Yes, some newspapers have lower starting rates. But a low-cost newspaper should only be selected if it satisfies the court’s publication requirement.
How many lines can my court notice contain?
There is no universal line limit. Different newspapers use different pricing structures. Longer matters may increase the price.
Can a court notice be a display advertisement?
Yes, where the newspaper and applicable requirement permit or require a display format. Display advertisements are generally priced by size.
How quickly can my court notice be published?
It depends on the newspaper’s cut-off, availability, publication schedule and required date. Some newspapers currently advertise next-day publication when booked before their stated cut-off.
Can OMM Advertising arrange urgent publication?
OMM Advertising can check the available newspaper options and publication schedule. The actual publication date remains subject to the newspaper’s cut-off and acceptance.
Can I book the advertisement online?
Yes. The publication process can generally be coordinated online by sending the approved matter and supporting documents.
Do I need an advocate?
For a court notice, I strongly recommend working with the advocate handling your case because the advocate can confirm what the court requires and approve the wording.
Can OMM Advertising write the legal notice for me?
OMM Advertising can assist with the advertising and publication process. Legal drafting should be handled or approved by the advocate or appropriate legal professional.
Can I use a sample court notice from Google?
You can use a sample to understand the general structure, but you should not treat it as the final legal wording for your case.
What if there is a mistake in the case number?
Contact the advertising agency immediately. If the notice has already been published, inform your advocate and determine whether a correction or fresh publication is required.
What if the publication date is missed?
Contact your advocate and advertising agency immediately. Whether another publication is required depends on the court’s direction.
What proof do I receive?
Depending on the newspaper and booking arrangement, you may receive a newspaper copy, e-paper page, tear-sheet or publication confirmation. Current newspaper booking services specifically offer publication/tear-sheet proof for public and court notices.
Should I keep the original newspaper?
Yes. I recommend keeping the physical newspaper, e-paper/tear-sheet and payment record.
Can publication proof be filed in court?
If the court requires proof of publication, the published newspaper or other accepted proof may need to be filed through the appropriate legal process. A recent Calcutta High Court order specifically required the newspaper showing publication to be filed before the Court.
Is a court notice the same as serving someone personally?
No. Newspaper publication can be a method of substituted or public service when directed by the court, but it does not mean that every newspaper advertisement automatically replaces all other forms of service.
What happens after publication?
Keep the publication proof and provide it to your advocate. The advocate can then take the next legal step required by the case or court order.
Can I publish a court notice without reading the court order?
I do not recommend it. The order may contain important instructions about newspaper, language, circulation, number of insertions and deadlines.
Which is more important: newspaper price or court requirement?
The court requirement is more important. A cheaper newspaper is not useful if it does not satisfy the publication direction.
Final Advice From My Side
If you need a Court Notice Advertisement in Kolkata, do not treat it like a normal newspaper classified advertisement.
Start with the court order.
Then follow this sequence:
Court Order → Legal Review → Approved Matter → Newspaper Requirement → Language → Edition → Publication Date → Rate → Booking → Publication → Proof → Court/Advocate Follow-up
This simple process can prevent many avoidable mistakes.
The most important things I recommend checking are:
- Exact court name
- Correct case number
- Correct party names
- Correct address
- Correct publication date
- Correct newspaper
- Correct language
- Correct edition
- Correct number of insertions
- Court-approved wording
- Publication proof
- Deadline for filing proof
At OMM Advertising, I can assist with the newspaper publication side of the process—from checking newspaper options and rates to coordinating booking and publication proof.
